First Haircut

Grandma Eppich was so nice to give Eliza her first real haircut (She has had her bangs trimmed once before). I was kinda worried about doing this because I didn't want all her curls to be cut off but there are still some curls left. Grandma trimmed her bangs and trimmed up the back making it all even. I really didn't get too much of a before shot but here are some cute ones during and I got a cute after shot after I came home and did her hair. It is actually quite a bit shorter in the back. She sat really good while grandma cut her hair. Didn't even need a dumdum sucker. Grandma said her statue pose really helped out. My little Liza is growing up. Look how big she is looking.

This picture totally captures Eliza's little personality.

Beans Update

Well, Ty has been growing a bean plant for a little while and we finally got three beans from the plant. He has been waiting since the day he planted the seed to be able to eat his beans and today he was finally able to eat them. However, I think the three beans is all we are getting from the little plant. No more blossoms. So fun for us to watch it grow though.

My Piano Teacher

My piano teacher, Joan Curtis, passed away today. When I found out the news my heart felt so sad. I had gone to her house every week for ten years.  She was the best teacher. My mom and sisters and I went to her funeral where we found out that she taught over a thousand students piano over the 27 years that she was teaching. She was always smiling and always wanted to know how we were doing and what was going on in our lives. She genuinly cared about her students. When I think about going to her house for piano lessons I think of her red pen, points, stickers, her prize basket. After every 100 points we would get to choose 2 candybars from her basket. I also remember how she loved to decorate. Every holiday her house was all decked out.

I am so grateful for the time Joan took to teach me how to play the piano. I am also grateful to my parents to paying for the lessons and driving me back and forth each week to lessons so I could develop my talent that has blessed my life.

Joan will always have a special place in my heart. She will be missed. Thank you Joan for teaching me in so many different ways.

Silly Liza

This morning Eliza found the lifejacket that I had not put away the night before and brought it to me to put on her. She wore it for a good hour. She finally figured out she hard a hard time doing things with the big bulky lifevest and wanted it off. Silly Liza.

Carnival

We had a little carnival for school.  We had a lot of fun. The kids got their faces painted. We had an egg relay race, ball toss, bowled, fishing pond, ate hotdogs for lunch, and even had a fun visitor...Mr. Clown. The kids had so much fun.

7-Peaks Day

We spent the day at 7-peaks today and had so much fun.
Ty and Dad enjoying a little lunch in the hot sun.

Clark and his girlfriend Tiffany and her daughter Hayden were also able to make it up from sunny St. George.

Beans

At Tyson's preschool they planted beans in a little plastic cup. Well his started to grow and grow some more. We had to move it to a bigger pot. Maybe we need to move it to a bigger pot again, I don't really know! He has had so much fun watching it peek through the soil. Asking each day, "Can I eat the beans yet?" Well he still hasn't been able to eat the beans yet but it is still growing. Who knows if any beans will actually grow but lots of leaves are coming up. Several new ones each day. He is having so much fun watching and taking care of it. I guess we will just have to wait and see if anything comes from it.

Ty and his Thumbs

So we have been struggling with getting Tyson to quit sucking his thumbs. I heard from my cousin to try bandaids. The first two attempts failed-he would just take them off. I decided to try once more cause I didn't know what else to try. So one night we put band-aids on Tyson's thumbs and put mittens on his hands before bed. This worked like a charm. We also gave him an incentive. He really, really wants a toy garbage truck. So, I made Ty a calendar with a picture of a garbage truck to remind him and everyday he didn't suck his thumb he got to put a sticker on his calendar. After one month he would get his garbage truck. After about a week and a half we asked Ty what he wanted since he was doing so well and we wanted to reward him with something small. He said he wanted ice cream so we went and got ice cream at Arctic Circle. Well this has all been working great until recently. He went two weeks without sucking his thumbs. And he now doesn't suck his thumbs at night. However, he has started to take his bandaids off during the day and we have caught him several times so he hasn't been able to put his stickers on hence I don't think he is going to get a garbage truck hence we are still fighting this thumb sucking issue when I thought we were getting so close. Hopefully if we keep at it no matter how much band-aids of duct tape (we have recently resorted to this since he has been taking his band-aids off) we use or how long it takes he will soon give up this habit. I hope. Keep your fingers crossed.

Feeding the Ducks

We have a duck pond not too far from our house that we frequently walk to but this is the first time I have remembered to take the camera. The Rush's were here for the day and we had a full bag of old bread and bread ends that we have been collecting so we decided to take the kids to feed the ducks.

Uh...oh...An Accident

So I guess Tyson is taking after his momma. Let me tell you the story. We went to Mike's brother's house to help him move. Mike had his truck pulled first into the driveway and our car was behind the truck several feet. We were in the house grabbing things and bringing them out and putting them in the truck.  While we were loading the truck Tyson and his little friend were playing outside and had hopped in the truck to play.  We were all inside and Tyson's little friend comes running in and says, "Tyson is making the truck move!" (or something to that effect) Mike ran down the stairs and I followed shortly behind. The tailgate was down on the truck and Mike had forgotten to put the emergency brake on and I guess Ty shifted into neutral or something and the tailgate rammed into the front of our car bending the hood quite a bit. Things could have been much worse but everyone was fine, Tyson was just scared and shook up a bit. Maybe this was all my fault because Mike told me to just go home and he would help his brother and meet me at home. However, I was being stubborn and said the more hands to help the faster we can be done and all can go home. The car is fine we bent the hood back as best as we could. It still sticks up a little bit but the bra on our car hides most of the damage.

What I am grateful for:
1. That Eliza was in the house with us.
2. That the car was behind the truck so it stopped the truck from going farther into the busy street and causing a much bigger accident.
3. That nobody got hurt in this little accident.

What I have learned from this accident:
1. Don't let Tyson play in the truck.
2. Maybe I should have listened to Mike and gone home with the kids and this wouldn't have happened.
3. I need to be better at watching Tyson.

So, why is Tyson like his momma? I was about five when I took a car up to our front porch. I guess Tyson just wanted to get an earlier start to beat the record!
