My Piano Teacher

My piano teacher, Joan Curtis, passed away today. When I found out the news my heart felt so sad. I had gone to her house every week for ten years.  She was the best teacher. My mom and sisters and I went to her funeral where we found out that she taught over a thousand students piano over the 27 years that she was teaching. She was always smiling and always wanted to know how we were doing and what was going on in our lives. She genuinly cared about her students. When I think about going to her house for piano lessons I think of her red pen, points, stickers, her prize basket. After every 100 points we would get to choose 2 candybars from her basket. I also remember how she loved to decorate. Every holiday her house was all decked out.

I am so grateful for the time Joan took to teach me how to play the piano. I am also grateful to my parents to paying for the lessons and driving me back and forth each week to lessons so I could develop my talent that has blessed my life.

Joan will always have a special place in my heart. She will be missed. Thank you Joan for teaching me in so many different ways.
