We have a big boy in our house now. Yes, Tyson is pottytrained. I had originally planned to start the pottytraining process in January when he would be three and after the holidays. Also, I was so not excited about pottytraining cause I heard it was so hard and boys were especially challenging. Well that was not my experience. I felt (keep in mind this was my first child pottytraining) that it wasn't too bad. Tyson took about a week to be pottytrained. The first couple days I would have him go about every 30 minutes. Now I ask him about every hour and if he tells me no I trust him (that has backfired on me a few times) then I just take him 5 or 10 mintues later just in case. Whenever I took him out I would put him in a pull up cause I was scared of him having an accident but then I decided that was not a good idea so I then decided it didn't matter and from then on he would just wear underwear. He tells us he has to go half the time, sometimes he just runs on his own, but he still has to be prodded to go about every hour. Smarties treats were a good incentive for him as well. He still has a few small accidents here and there but he is doing REALLY well and has caught on quickly. I am so glad I tried it out and did not wait until January. He still wears a diaper at night, we will work on that as time goes on. But I can handle one diaper a night. Yay for Tyson.

Hooray!!! I'm so glad it went off well. I think that it just depends on the child. Overall, I think boys are supposed to be harder than girls - but I don't think that's always the case. Claire was SUPER hard to potty train, and she's a VERY smart girl.
I used to beat myself up and tell myself that it was my fault Claire didn't potty train until she was 3. I tried SEVERAL times (and by try I mean 2 months of constant accidents, and I did that TWICE - once when she was 2 and once when she was 2 1/2). But really, it's just personality. When she turned 3 she potty trained in a WEEK - literally. She even potty trained over night. So - it wasn't me.
I'm so glad he was easy - it's good you had a first experience that went well. I've put off potty training Linus because of how bad it was last time. So, he's turning 3 here in a couple of weeks and then I'm going to bite the bullet. Wish me luck!
