Day 20-No Activity

December 20th-Day 20

Song: Far, Far Away on Judea's Plains

Scripture: Luke 1: 39-56

Activity: No Activity
I think towards the end of this countdown I am a little burnt out trying to have an activity every day. Maybe next year we will just do the 12 days of Christmas. So tonight we didn't do anything. I don't feel too bad because we have done a lot this month both reflecting on the Savior and his life and birth and just plain Christmas related. We have watched a lot of Christmas shows that have come on the TV at  night and done other fun activities. So tonight I just let it be that we didn't do an activity.

Activity: Snow Day
Because of the AWESOME snow we got overnight and throughout the day we decided to bundle up and head out to play in the snow this afternoon. Tyson had been begging me to go all day so I told him after quiet/nap time we would go out. Mike got home from work and was also able to join us for some snow play. We ALL got tackled in the snow, made snow angels, and just had fun throwing the snow at each other. Eliza was not too sure she wanted to be out in the cold snow and most of the time played statue. By the end we were all wet and cold but had fun together as a family playing.

Day 14-Service School Day and Festival of Lights

For Tyson's school we thought it would be a cool experience for the kids to be able to be involved in some kind of giving (service) this Christmas. We came up with the idea of having the kids donate a toy to Toys for Tots. We explained to them what we were doing and they were all so excited to be able to give to other children who wouldn't have a great Christmas. Then we decided to go to our local police station and the kids gave them cookies for serving by keeping them safe. While there the got to sit in a police truck and see the light and hear the sirens. They really liked it but thought the sirens were too loud. On our way out the police officer escorting us let us see what a holding room was. Basically a cement bench with a toilet and sink. The kids had a lot of fun this day.
