One night when the Rush family was visiting we decided to take all the kids to Krispy Kreme to get a doughnut. This is the first time my kids had been there and they were so fascinated to see how the doughnuts were made...and extra exciting was we all got a free doughnut. (The pics are kinda blurry cause I took them with the ipod.)

A Conversation
This week a friend of mine lost her baby boy. He was born on December 1, 2012 with a complicated combination of congenital heart defects. What a strong little boy he was and what an amazing family he was born into. When I heard the news my body froze up. I was in shock. My heart felt like it had broken and I had never even met this little baby boy. My heart broke for my friend and her family. As a mother, I cannot even imagine what she is going through. My heart aches for her. I have been thinking a lot about her and cannot even comprehend losing a child. I have held my children a little tighter this week that is for sure.
As I was heading to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things for Ty’s preschool I had a conversation with Tyson. I don’t remember exactly what was said but the conversation went something like this.
(I had just gotten off the phone with one of my friends giving her information about the funeral for this baby)
T: Who were you talking to?
Me: Katie
T: What did she say?
Me: I was just telling her about the funeral for Logan’s baby brother.
T: What’s a funeral?
Me: It is an event that we go to when someone dies.
T: Where is Logan’s baby brother going to go?
Me: His spirit is now with Heavenly Father and his body is going to be buried in the ground in a casket or a really nice comfy box. His body stays on the earth buried in the ground in a casket and his spirit goes to be with our Heavenly Father up in Heaven.
T: Where is heaven and how does the baby’s spirit get to Heavenly Father? Did Heavenly Father carry him to heaven?
Me (crying): Yes, I think maybe heavenly father did carry him to heaven.
T: Heavenly Father has a plan.
Me (crying some more): You’re right Ty. Heavenly Father does have a plan. It is the plan of salvation or happiness. If we make good choices when we are on earth, when we die (which will be a long time from now) we will get to live with our Heavenly Father again. Isn’t that so cool?
T: Yes, I want to live with Heavenly Father again.
Me: Someday!
I have been thinking a lot about this conversation this week and a couple of things hit me really hard. One is how grateful I am for the gospel in my life. I am so grateful Tyson is learning and taking something away from primary. I always wonder if he understand and learns anything and what he grasps from church. This conversation with him tells me that he does pay attention even though it is sometimes hard to tell and he is learning. Two is how grateful I am that I know that Heavenly Father has a plan. And that if we are obedient and endure to the end we will get to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus again.

Happy Valentines Day
We had a funValentine's Day together as a family. The kids and I went to playgroup in the morning and then headed to Wal-Mart to get a few supplies for Ty's school and I got the kids each a Valentines gift. Eliza got a baby care kit for her baby dolls and Ty got a helicopter so he can play Tom-Tom from his new favorite show Fireman Sam. Dad also surprised mom with roses a few days before valentines so it would actually be a surprise. Mom made Dad some coupons to cash in whenever he wants. Each of us got a fun cup for Valentines filled with goodies. Ty got a cup with all the superheros (The Avengers) on it. Dad got a Superman cup since he is our Super daddy. Eliza and Mom both got princess cups. That night for dinner mom thought it would be fun to have a little pizza party. We got pizza, mozzerella bites, and wings (for dad) from Dominoes. We then got to go play with cousins at Kaylee's birthday party. I love my family so very much. Happy Valentines Day!

A Whole World
One day after lunch Ty told me he was going to go in his room and build a whole world and this is what he came up with. Firstation, car garage, police station, barn, a train track, and legos mixed in. How I love this boy and his creative imagination.

January Fun
This January has been cold and snowy so we had to find other things to do to fill our days. So we played with new Christmas toys, played kitchen, playdough, built train tracks and played trains and played games. We all can't wait for the winter and cold to go away so we can play outside again.
| Tyson getting mad at Eliza for wrecking his train...or taking his train...something he didn't like. Happens far too often at our house. It is like the end of the world. |

Ty's Ambulance
Ty has been wanting an ambulance for quite awhile. He asked if he could use some of his piggy bank money (this is the first time he has asked to use his money for anything) and pay for an ambulance all by himself. He also used some birthday money he got to get this ambulance. He is pretty determined. As we went to three different stores and walked down the toy aisles to find the perfect ambulance he never waivered in what he wanted. He didn't care about anything else other than finding his ambulance. He was SO excited as we took it up to the register and he sat it on the belt and gave the cashier his money. He was so proud of himself.

Tyson's 4th Birthday
So the firefighting theme continues from Christmas to Ty's birthday. I sat Tyson down one day and showed him many different birthday theme ideas on the computer and he was adamant he wanted a fireman/truck birthday party. He wanted to do a little party with his friends. So we decided that we would have lunch together. We had hotdogs, chips, fruit, capri-sun, and popcorn. After lunch we sang happy birthday to Tyson and he blew out his candles and then we had cupcakes. After the cupcakes Tyson opened his presents from his friends. He sure has good friends. He got a firetruck set, ninja turtle coloring book, whoopie cushion, watch, little indians, nerf basketball hoop, and a placemat. He was so excited to have all his friends over for his birthday.
| Love his expression in this picture! |
Later that night he had his cousins and aunts and uncles and granpa and grandma over for a little party. We opened presents and sang to Tyson in which he blew out his candles again and had cupcakes and icecream. He got a T-ball set and outfit from mom and dad, Eliza got him a measureing tape to go with his tools, he also got an outfit from grandpa and grandma, a car garage, Curious George fireman book, and some foam disk guns. Happy Birthday Tyson.
