Poor Megan

Megan has been sick with a really bad cold/cough which I believe she caught from Tyson and Eliza. She started coughing last week . With her being only six weeks old I was really worried about her. During the week she progressively got worse. I was getting worried. Last Saturday when we got up in the morning she looked really pale and it was almost like she was lifeless. All she had been doing the last couple of days was a lot of sleeping not even really waking up to eat. When she did wake up to eat she didn't eat much and a few times she would cough so hard and throw it all up. On Saturday morning we called Brayden to come and check her out. He did a little checkup on her and decided to send us to the hospital to the suction clinic. We got ready and left to the hospital. I dropped the Mike and the kids off at the park down the street and took Megan to the hospital. We didn't think it would be too long. I got to the hospital and registered Megan. The respiratory therapist suctioned her out and she was really worried about her breathing. She would take several breaths and then stop for a few secongs. She was having very labored breathing. So after some consultation among doctors she was admitted to the hospital for observation. During all this Mike and the kids met me at the hospital and I took the kids to Marci's house so they could do the Easter egg hunt and not have to hang out at the hospital. Mike stayed at the hospital with Megan until I made it back after dropping off the kids. When I got back they had officially decided that she was going to admitted to the hospital and had her all dressed in a gown. I walked in and just thought she is too little to be in a hospital gown staying at the hospital. I called and told my parents about all this and they met us at the hospital so that she could get a blessing. Mike and I were also given a blessing of comfort. The did a test on her to see what kind of a virus she had and it came back positive for RSV. There was nothing they could do for her other than suction her out, keep her eating, and oxygen.
By that night I could already tell a difference in how she was doing. She had some color back in her and was more awake and alert and also eating a little bit better. I went and picked up the kids to bring them to see Megan. Mike said he would stay with Megan that night so I could go home with the kids and get some rest. She got a fever this night so they had to do more tests because of her fever and because she is so young. They took some blood which Mike said was hard for the nurses because of her bad veins. They had to poke her six times and in the end had to use the vein in her head to get the blood sample from. They also had to do a urine culture. All the tests came back fine so they said the fever was most likely just because of the RSV and not some underlying problem.
On Sunday they were still not comfortable with releasing her because her fever was going up and down and she still needed her oxygen. I stayed with Megan on Sunday night while Mike went home with the kids. We did a lot of just hanging out in the hospital. She got another fever on Sunday night which was gone by Monday morning. They wanted the fever to be gone for 24 hours before sending her home makeing sure it wasn't anything else causing her fever. Mike went to work on Tuesday morning only to be sent home to be with his daughter. We were finally released on Tuesday morning to come with oxygen. She is still on the oxygen and we have continued taking her in to get suctioned out. She still has a nasty cough but she is doing so much better. She is eating normally again and awake and alert more and feeling a lot better. We just have to get her over her cough and get her off the oxygen.
